The Magazine Publishers of America (MPA) today kicked off the 2009 Best Magazine Cover of the Year award. The award, formerly judged by members of the American Society of Magazine Editors, is this year being hosted by Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN) on the company's web site, where customers can vote for the best cover. Amazon.com customers have three weeks to vote for the best cover in 10 categories, followed by a one-week voting period to choose the best cover out of the finalists. Customers who vote are automatically entered in a chance to win a $10,000 Amazon.com gift card.

Call for Entries.
The ASME of judges, which will be composed of magazine editors, design directors, art directors and photo editors, will look at all the entries and select six finalists in each of the following 10 categories:
