Pythagoras of Samos, lived from ca. 570 to ca. 490 BC, is one of the most famous and controversial ancient Greek philosophers who made important developments in mathematics, astronomy, and the theory of music. The theorem now known as Pythagoras's theorem was known to the Babylonians 1000 years earlier but he may have been the first to prove it..

Jacob Bronowski:  (1908 - 1974) was a British mathematician and biologist, best remembered as the presenter and writer of the BBC television documentary series, The Ascent of Man.

The Ascent of Man (1973) was a groundbreaking BBC documentary series, produced in association with Time-Life Films, and written and presented by Jacob Bronowski.
